Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using Syncing Pilots ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and anyone who accesses or uses the Service.

2. What the Service does

Syncing Pilots displays publicly shared GPS tracking data from Garmin inReach and SPOT satellite tracker devices. We aggregate this data to show flight tracks and positions on a map. We only access data that pilots have explicitly made public through their device's sharing settings.

3. Accounts

You may create an account using email/password or Google OAuth. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your login credentials secure
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Providing accurate information when registering

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Pilot profiles and data

Pilot profiles are added to the directory based on publicly available tracker share links. If your tracker is listed and you want it removed or modified, contact us at hello@syncingpilots.com.

When you claim a profile, you confirm that you are the owner of that tracker device. Claiming a profile doesn't grant ownership of the underlying tracking data — that data originates from and belongs to the respective tracker service (Garmin, SPOT).

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law
• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data from the Service
• Attempt to circumvent rate limiting or access controls
• Use location data to harass, stalk, or harm any individual
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Interfere with the Service's infrastructure or normal operation

6. No safety guarantee

Syncing Pilots is not a safety or emergency service. Location data may be delayed by several minutes, may be inaccurate, or may not be available at all. Do not rely on this Service to locate a pilot in an emergency. If you believe a pilot is in danger, contact local emergency services immediately. We expressly disclaim any liability for incidents arising from reliance on this Service for safety purposes.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will be accurate or current. Use the Service at your own risk.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Syncing Pilots and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Third-party services

The Service depends on third-party APIs (Garmin MapShare, SPOT FindMeSpot) and mapping services (OpenStreetMap, ESRI, Stadia Maps). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or terms of those services.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
